“Can we watch the Kinus Hashluchos on the big screen in Zal”?

This is a conversation that I am almost certain never happened.

Because some things seem obvious.

But what about in our own home? Or on our own device?

I am not a Rov, so I will not discuss this from the Halachic perspective. But let us look at the Hashkofa of this.

***

We ‘think’ in words. But we ‘imagine’ in pictures.

And whilst all our thoughts trigger emotions, pictures develop emotion almost automatically.

Emotion causes us to act, even unwittingly.

That is why we are so careful in what we see, because;

once an image is planted into our minds, each time we ‘replay’ the image, it almost always triggers an emotion, which in turn causes our body to react.

In the perfect world, where no-one had physical impulses, there would be no need for Hilchos Tznius.

The Halochos of Tznius are put in place to help us refrain from the natural impulses a person has.

These urges are so strong, that even in the Beis Hamikdosh, during the time of Simchas Beis Hashoeva, when ordinary people like us, would have Ruach Hakodesh, the men and woman needed to be separated.

So whilst nature has to be balanced out with being a normal people’s person, we must take care not to erode the lines of Kedusha, even if it brings incredible inspiration.

Following last week, a few people wrote that it was not specific enough.

So let us be more careful these next two weeks in one area of שמירת עניים.

Take your pick.
